Virtual Herb Scouts

An Online Herbal Program for Kids

Herb Scouts is our children’s program that blends herbal learning with natural science. This flexible, self-paced program is designed to help children connect with plants, nature, and their own creativity - no matter where they live.

Each month, we focus on one herb while weaving in lessons on ecology, botany, wellness purposes, and more. Children learn how to work with herbs in meaningful, age-appropriate ways.

Through stories, science, and hands-on exploration, Herb Scouts nurtures a lifelong love of the natural world while building confidence, curiosity, and care for self and community.

Herb Scouts helps young learners build a relationship with the natural world, one herb at a time.

At the end of the program, they'll proudly earn their Herb Scout Certificate, celebrating both their knowledge and their growing bond with herbs.

Herb Scouts is a heart-centered journey into the world of herbs, made just for kids!

How It Works

Everything is hosted inside our private online school portal, and families can participate on their own time, at their own pace.

Each Month Includes:

  • Printable Curriculum
Downloadable worksheets, nature journaling prompts, herbal recipes, and crafts themed around the herb of the month. Designed for hands-on learning, indoors or out.

  • Creative Learning Suggestions
Optional enrichment ideas like nature walks, book pairings, or themed games to deepen the experience.

  • Live Virtual Class
A fun, interactive lesson lead by herbalist Suzy! We'll explore the featured herb together, do an activity, and connect with other young herb lovers.
(Can’t make it live? No worries - the class will be recorded and uploaded to your portal.)

  • Q&A with Suzy
Post your child’s questions about herbs, nature, or activities in the discussion space. Suzy will reply directly in the portal or during the live class.

  • Show & Tell Opportunities
Kids can upload photos or short videos of their projects and herbal adventures. We’ll spotlight them in our private community space!

Classes are led by Suzy, a clinical herbalist and educator. She has also been homeschooling her five children for over a decade and brings a deep love for nature, rhythm, and child-led learning to class. Suzy regularly pursues continuing education in inclusive classroom practices and neurodiverse learning experiences, helping to ensure her teaching remains adaptable and welcoming for all children. She uses the natural world to provide innovative and educational experiences for young people while teaching them responsibility, leadership, emotional regulation, social skills, and life skills.
